SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS: SIGN THE LETTER

Tell Congress we need a comprehensive small business recovery plan now.

Small business owners,
lend your voices!

Our small businesses are in crisis. The number of active business owners in the United States plummeted by 3.3 million from February to April. If no further government relief is provided, one in four small business owners say they will not be able to survive beyond the next three months.

Small businesses are essential to our country’s economic and social health. They employ almost half of all private-sector workers and account for 44 percent of U.S. GDP. They are too crucial to let fail.

If you’re a small business owner, please join us in making your voice heard. On August 3rd, a group of 100 current and former CEOs and senior executives representing some of the largest companies and pro-business organizations – Walmart, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, Marriott, IBM, Disney, Costco, the Business Roundtable, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, among others – sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to "transcend partisanship and forge meaningful agreement on an assistance package to help our struggling small businesses and, in turn, tens of millions of Americans."

The letter urges Congress to ensure several key principles guide small business recovery:

  • Federally guaranteed loans, at favorable terms, that will enable small businesses to transform and sustain themselves through 2020 and well into 2021.
  • Businesses should have flexibility to determine how loan funds are used.
  • The hardest-hit businesses should be eligible for at least partial loan forgiveness.
  • Relief needs to be delivered expeditiously.

"Republicans and Democrats already agree that small businesses are essential to the fabric of our communities and economy," the letter states. "It is time to put that belief to work."

We plan to send the letter again, this time with the support of thousands of small business owners from across the country. Join us to save retailers, restaurants, suppliers, manufacturers, and the overall U.S. economy.

I’d like to join small business owners across America
in telling our Congressional leaders that:

"Republicans and Democrats already agree that small businesses are essential to the fabric of our communities and economy. It is time to put that belief to work."

“At this moment of crisis, we urge you to transcend partisanship and forge meaningful agreement on an assistance package to help our struggling small businesses and, in turn, tens of millions of Americans.”

- Howard Schultz, entrepreneur and business leader

The Small Business Recovery Initiative is giving voice to small business owners across America who are tired of the partisan, political games in Washington, D.C. Small businesses drive America’s economy and we need our leaders to come together and pass meaningful assistance packages for our struggling small businesses.
